2026 is a milestone year for all of us.
2026 marks the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, formalizing 13 colonies into the United States of America.
Carter G. Woodson, Ph.D., first formally recognized Negro History Week in February of 1926 to coincide with the celebrated birthdays of Frederick Douglass and President Abraham Lincoln. President Gerald Ford was the first United States president to formally acknowledge Black History Month in 1976. He urged all Americans to honor the contributions of African Americans. In 1986, Congress passed Public Law 99-244, designating February as Black History Month.

In 2026, we celebrate the diverse legacies that continue to shape the national landscape.
